(ANSA) – NEW YORK, 20 LUG – Ambassador of Italy to Canada Alessandro Cattaneo attended the annual ceremony organized by Cibpa (Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association) in Toronto at the historic Distillery District to award scholarships to young Italian-Canadians.
In attendance were Cibpa Education Foundation President Bob Sacco along with key association leaders; Secretary of State for Labor John Zerucelli; King-Vaughan Congresswoman Anna Roberts; and Apma (Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association) Ceo Flavio Volpe, among others.
A donation of 100,000 Canadian dollars to Tmu’s Lincoln Alexander Law School in honor of Sergio Marchionne was presented at the ceremony; Maeci’s funding of the new Ycdsb ItaliaLinguaCultura sponsoring body for a project to disseminate Italian language and culture in York’s Catholic Provostship schools was highlighted; and four Italian-Canadian students who returned from a study trip to Lazio organized by NIAF were greeted.
Ambassador Cattaneo, accompanied by Consul Giulia Romani, had participated the previous day at Beechwood Cemetery, together with Sen. Toni Varone, in a ceremony organized by Cibpa to pay tribute to Sergio Marchionne, whose great figure as a manager is remembered with respect and affection by all who knew him and by the Italian-Canadian community in Toronto.
