Checks in Colombia on alleged death of mafioso Motisi

(ANSA) – ROME, FEB 15 – Checks are being performed by the Italian embassy in Colombia over the reported death of a Cosa Nostra man on Italy’s most dangerous fugitives list who allegedly took part as a young hitman in Mafia talks that led to the 1982 assassination of Carabinieri General and Palermo Prefect Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, sources said Saturday.
Based on press reports in Italy, on the alleged death in a clinic in Cali of Giovanni Motisi, the embassy in Bogota is carrying out the appropriate checks on the reliability of the news, the sources said.
It is probable, however, that the 66-year-old, known as U Pacchiuni (Fatty), and hitman of late boss of bosses Totò ‘The Beast’ Riina, in the event of a hospitalization, would have entered the hospital under a false name.
According to the statements of Calogero Ganci, a Mafia informant, Motisi was present at the Cosa Nostra cupola meeting in which the assassination of Dalla Chiesa was discussed.
Motisi was considered the last major figure of the ‘Massacres Mafia’ who was still at large. (ANSA).
