Today, we are launching Club Conversations, a new programme of support for Club Leaders. Developed directly from feedback gathered during CEO Tom Solesbury’s tour of clubs across the UK, the programme creates a space for Club Leaders to learn, discuss and share practice in their club role.
Club Conversations is not about telling clubs how to operate. It is a facilitated network of support, drawing on expertise from across and beyond the rowing community, and shaped around each club’s own context. Our role is to bring that support together and help make sense of it for your club. The programme is open to every club: coastal, river, university and more.
Through the support of funding from Sport England, we have created three initial workstreams, free to all British Rowing affiliated clubs.
Club Workshops
Themed online discussions and networking sessions for volunteers to learn, share practice and connect with others across the sport. Launching Thursday, 24 September.
University Club Conversations
A two-week online workshop programme from Monday, 21 September, supporting committees ahead of the new academic year.
Volunteer Mentoring Network
A bespoke club support pilot connecting clubs with volunteer mentors who have specific expertise relevant to their needs. Launching Autumn 2026.
Topics across the programme will range from supporting volunteers and raising money to building connection and capacity, among others. As the conversation develops, so will what we offer, and feedback from clubs will help shape its direction.
