<p>Every year, supermarket shelves fill with increasingly creative Christmas crisp flavours. We’ve tasted everything from turkey and stuffing to Japanese fried chicken and lobster cocktail, as well as sweeter experiments, such as gingerbread and milk chocolate cinnamon tortillas.</p><p>But one returning flavour has caught our attention for all the right reasons: Co-op’s Ultimate Roast Potato Crisps are back after a three-year break. The crisps first launched in 2019 and disappeared from shelves in 2023, prompting a wave of disappointed shoppers begging for their return. Now, they’re hitting the shelves again in Co-op stores nationwide, with a new crinkle-cut design for extra crunch.</p><p>They cost £1.75 for a 150g bag, and are made with British potatoes hand-cooked in small batches. The seasoning combines Cornish sea salt, garlic, rosemary, black pepper and extra virgin olive oil – essentially, everything you’d expect to find on a properly seasoned roastie.</p><p>Natalie Dawe, crisps, snacks and nuts development manager at Co-op, said: "Our crisps have developed something of a cult following over the years, with our customers regularly championing their favourites. This year, we’re delighted to bring back our Roast Potato Crisps, and what I love about them is that the flavour always sparks discussion – it’s much more than meets the eye!"</p><p>Indeed, we are particularly enticed by the savoury, herby combination of garlic and rosemary, plus the subtle kick of black pepper. Rather than trying to recreate the whole Christmas dinner, we like that Co-op has focused on one of its most comforting side dishes and perfected the flavour balance. These are sure to go down well served with a creamy dip or bowl of hummus. They’d also be brilliant scattered over a Boxing Day sandwich, crushed over macaroni cheese or used as a crunchy topping for a baked potato. <p>The roast potato crisps aren’t returning alone. Another festive favourite, Co-op’s Pigs in Blankets Crinkle Cut Crisps, are also back – they’re coated in a smoky, savoury seasoning inspired by the classic bacon-wrapped sausage side dish.</p><p>New for 2026, Irresistible Wagyu Beef & Caramelised Onion Crisps offer an even more luxurious option. The recipe combines British wagyu beef flavour with sweet caramelised onion, tapping into the popularity of premium beef and sweet-savoury pairings. We reckon these would go well with a creamy horseradish or mustard dip, or even piled into a steak sandwich for an indulgent treat.</p><p>These two flavours are also available in 150g bags for £1.75.
