(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 6 – Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Tuesday congratulated Frirdrich Merz on his election as German Chancellor at the second ballot and voiced the hope that Germany and Italy can further strengthen ties.
“Congratulations to the new German Chancellor and my friend Friedrich Merz,” Tajani, who is also deputy premier and leader of the centre-right post Berlusconi Forza Italia (FI) party, wrote on X.
“It’s the beginning of a new political season, with the pragmatism of our governments we will further strengthen the ties between Italy and Germany. By combining our industrial capabilities we will make Europe stronger. Best wishes for the job to him, to his friend and colleague Johann Wadephul and to the entire team of ministers!”. (ANSA).
