Deal signed on decarbonization of former ILVA plant

(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 12 – A long-sought agreement on the decarbonization of the polluting former ILVA steel plants in Taranto has been signed at the business and made in Italy ministry (MIMIT) by all national and local administrations, MIMIT sources said Tuesday.
The deal will combine pollution mitigation and job-saving moves at the sprawling plant, still southern Italy’s biggest single employer despite years of job losses.
The plant has been linked over the years to high cancer rates in the Puglia port city. (ANSA).
