UK businessman, Sunjay Kapur tragically passed away at the age of 53 on June 12, 2025. He was well known as the former husband of Karisma Kapoor. However, within just a month of his demise, his family, including his widow, Priya Sachdev, his mom, Rani Kapur and his and Karisma’s kids, Kiaan and Samaira, got involved in a legal drama. For the unversed, Samaira and Kiaan are currently fighting a legal battle with Sunjay’s widow, Priya. The kids are backed in court by their mom, Karisma, and their grandmother, Rani.
Delhi HC’s ‘melodrama’ remark during the recent court proceeding was for Priya Sachdev’s legal team
According to a report by Viral Bhayani, on November 14, 2025, during the court proceeding involving Sunjay Kapur’s Rs. 30,000 estate, the Delhi HC’s remark to avoid ‘melodrama’ was directed at Priya Sachdev and not Karisma Kapoor. Earlier reports claimed that Justice Jyoti Singh warned either party to avoid melodrama during the court proceedings, when Karisma Kapoor’s lawyer, Mahesh Jethmalani, opened up about Samaira’s university fees due. Now, according to Viral Bhayani’s report, the remark was made when Justice Jyoti Singh questioned Priya Sachdev’s legal team about the absence of Sunjay Kapur’s inputs in the alleged forged will and the university fees due for Samaira.
