Ever since we saw Dr. Wolf in Hudson Oaks in the Brilliant Minds Season 2 premiere, viewers have been curious why he’s in the mental hospital.
Theories have gone back and forth between Wolf couldn’t handle his family drama, to he went to Hudson Oaks undercover to find his father and expose Hudson Oaks’ shady dealings.
While we initially suspected Charlie played a part in Wolf going there, we wondered if he was undercover working with Dr. Nichols and Carol, until Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 6, when I saw new evidence that Charlie made Wolf go crazy.

The Halloween special was entertaining, but it also highlighted that Wolf teetered on the edge, seeing visions of a dead patient.
Unfortunately, Charlie kept running into Wolf after coming out of these hallucinations, making it even easier to build this case.
Could Wolf’s Former Patient Have Been Related to Charlie?
Dr. Wolf often talks about the importance of healing and moving on, but it’s easier to practice what you preach when it doesn’t refer to your own life.
It’s challenging to be a doctor and walk that line, knowing when a patient doesn’t have much time left and yet still following their wishes to fight.

Wolf was still haunted by a patient who died from a brain tumor on Halloween during his residency.
While it sounded like he tried, hated that she died in pain, and kept seeing visions of her. Since Charlie kept appearing after Wolf hallucinated her, this gave him the perfect ammunition.
Or so I thought. But then Charlie saw the same woman appear to him, meaning he knew her, too.
I suspect that woman may have been his mother, and she wanted to fight so badly because she had children.
Perhaps Charlie blamed Wolf for her death, so he came to work at Bronx General to learn more about him and craft his revenge.

You know the saying — keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Some Clues Still Are Not Adding Up
Brilliant Minds only showcases Wolf’s time in Hudson Oaks when a case parallels what he felt, so we haven’t seen him there in a few weeks since Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 4.
Back then, we had a theory that he was undercover because he called Nichols for help, saying they had taken the phone Nichols gave him.
It sounded like they were working together, and Nichols seemed suspicious of Charlie’s ambition to improve the neuro department.

Back then, Charlie’s fake concern seemed like the icing on the cake and not the main course, because we still can’t explain that phone call.
In addition, Wolf looked shocked when Charlie came to visit him at Hudson Oaks, calling him mugwhump, Muriel’s unique name for her son.
We can’t explain why Charlie referred to him as that. Did he merely do deep research, or are the rumors true? Is Charlie possibly related to Dr. Wolf?
Stay tuned to Brilliant Minds as this medical mystery develops.
