(ANSA) – ROME, JAN 28 – The average per-capita disposable income of households in southern Italy was 17,100 euros in 2023, the lowest in the country compared to 25,000 euros in the Centre-North which was more than 30% higher, ISTAT said Tuesday.
ISTAT’s study on territorial differences found, however, that the South’s GDP rose by 1.5% in 2023, compared to 0.7% in the North-West, 0.4% in the North-East and 0.3% in the Centre, with a national average of +0.7%.
Overall, northeastern Italy recorded the highest pro-capita GDP with a value in nominal terms of 44,700 euros compared to 24,000 euros in the South. (ANSA).
