The collaboration is designed to strengthen Dubai’s tourism landscape, elevate visitor engagement, and capitalize on the 18.72 million international overnight arrivals recorded in 2024, with the goal of further expanding the city’s tourism potential.
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with travel technology leader Amadeus to establish an integrated city-wide framework for the rapid development of innovative travel tech solutions.
This collaboration is set to strengthen Dubai’s tourism infrastructure, enrich visitor experiences, and build upon the 18.72 million international overnight arrivals recorded in 2024, further advancing the city’s tourism potential.
The agreement was formalized by Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), a division of DET, and Maher Koubaa, EVP Travel Unit and MD for EMEA at Amadeus. The initiative aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global hub for both business and leisure.
DET and Amadeus have already partnered across several strategic areas, including travel data and analytics, programmatic travel advertising, and B2B travel marketing. This MoU serves as a framework to broaden their collaboration, driving further advancements in these sectors.
Additionally, the agreement facilitates the establishment of an Amadeus Centre of Excellence in Dubai, dedicated to pioneering initiatives that enhance the traveler experience. This will include innovations in biometric solutions, airport process optimization, seamless access management, touchless payment systems, and air capacity expansion. The partnership will also support the growth of both local and international start-ups while strengthening travel intelligence reporting for the hospitality and tourism sectors.
This collaboration comes at a crucial juncture for the global tourism sector, where technology is playing an increasingly vital role in adapting to evolving traveler expectations and optimizing industry operations.
It also aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of accelerating research and development across key industries through dynamic partnerships between public and private entities. Additionally, it supports the objectives of the D33 Agenda, which prioritizes innovation as a catalyst for economic expansion.
Amadeus is at the forefront of digital transformation in the travel industry, equipping airlines, hotels, travel agencies, and airports with cutting-edge solutions to enhance the traveler experience.
By seamlessly integrating the travel ecosystem, Amadeus provides advanced, data-driven tools for booking, distribution, analytics, and operational efficiency, continuously pushing technological boundaries to shape the future of travel.
