Early Fall Hunting in the Forloh Insect Shield SolAir Lightweight Pants: OutdoorHUB Review
I’ve worn the Forloh Insect Shield SolAir Lightweight pants throughout the summer and early fall while fishing and dove hunting. I’ve walked through brush, tall grass, and crossed barbed wire fences. After several months wearing these pants, this is my honest Forloh Insect Shield SolAir Lightweight pants review.

The Forloh Lightweight pants use a blend of polyester and spandex with a gusseted crotch and strong articulated knees. They’re offered in regular and tall fit and multiple sizes. Forloh claims the insect shield technology repels biting insects, while the Brrr Pro keeps you cool, and Polygience Stay Fresh reduces body odors. The multiple colors ensure you can wear them while hunting, fishing, hiking, or out on the town.
Fit & Comfort

I’m typically a 32, so I ordered a 32, and they were a little snug. That either means I need to shed a few pounds (definitely do) or they fit a little snug. I recommend going with the next size up, just in case. Even though they’re snug, they’re very comfortable. I can wear them for long periods while walking through fields and brush, or sitting on a bucket waiting for dove to fly by. If you get a size bigger, it would be easy and comfortable to layer long thermals under them for cold-weather use.

Weather Resistance
These Forloh lightweight pants are ideal for warm weather because they breathe well, thanks to the Brrr Pro enhanced cooling, which wicks moisture away from your body and dries quickly. The UV protection has kept me from getting a sunburn, and I don’t worry about insect bites as long as I have these on, paired with the long-sleeved hooded shirt. I wouldn’t recommend wearing them in cold, rainy situations because they’re designed for warm-weather outdoor activities.

Mobility & Performance

Since they have a little stretch to them, I haven’t felt restricted while wearing these pants in any way, whether crossing fences, climbing hills, or crouching for long for a long time. The articulated knees and gusseted crotch were purpose-built for ultimate mobility in these lightweight pants.

Storage & Pocket Layout

With four pockets, there are plenty of places to carry everything you’ll need (pocket knife, wallet, and phone) while on a few-hour hunt or hike. I love that there is a secure zipper pocket on the front right hip and seat of the pants, plus your traditional front pockets. While you’ll still need a backpack for most of your gear, the pockets are deep and will keep the items you typically carry in your pants pockets secured.

Durability & Construction

After walking through thickets of tall grass, briars, and honey locusts, crossing barbed wire fences, and kneeling in the grass, I can honestly say these pants are tough. They haven’t ripped yet, though I have been snagged on a few things. They’re definitely not thick or tough enough to prevent barbed wire or thorns from scratching your skin, but the zippers, seams, and button have held up well to the abuse I’ve put these pants through, so far.

Versatility & Use Cases

The Forloh SolAir Lightweight pants are definitely designed for warm-weather use. Hiking, fishing, and hunting. I wouldn’t be afraid to wear the single color pants to town, either. However, they’re not great for cold weather or rainy conditions, as you will get cold and wet.

7/10
Value & Competition

These are some of the most expensive pants I own at $180, but they’ve been worth it. Compared to other premium hunting pants, they perform as intended, they keep the biting bugs at bay while keeping me cool and sunburnt-free during dove season. I would recommend these pants to any serious warm-weather hunter and outdoorsman.

Overall Rating: Forloh Insect Shield SolAir Lightweight Pants Review
If it weren’t for the price, I’d own a pair of these Forloh Insect Shield SolAir Lightweight pants for every day of the week. They’ve treated me well while fishing this summer and hunting in the early fall. However, I don’t recommend them for new outdoormen and women because they’re a high-end premium pant; there are definitely less expensive options available that can just as easily get you outdoors. These pants are for serious hunters, hikers, and anglers looking to keep the biting insects off of them, cool during hot weather, and the sun from burning their legs.
