(ANSA) – ISTANBUL, 28 APR – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime in Syria, some 200,000 refugees who arrived in Turkey from Syria during the war in recent years have returned to their home country. “Since 9 December, the number of people returned to Syria from Turkey has reached 200,000,” Erdogan was quoted by Anadolu news agency as saying. “Despite various difficulties, obstacles and sabotage, Syria is slowly recovering. As Syria recovers, the number of returnees has started to increase,’ the Turkish leader added, stating that ‘in the past two years 270,000 irregular migrants’, whose nationality he did not specify, have been prevented from entering Turkey.
