(ANSA) – BELGRADO, 04 APR – The round table “Economic Dialogue Italy-Montenegro”, promoted by the Embassy of Italy in Montenegro and the Ice Office in Belgrade-Podgorica, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, took place in Podgorica with great success. The initiative represented an important moment of confrontation between institutions and enterprises of the two countries, with the aim of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and laying the foundations for new investments in Montenegrin strategic sectors.
Among the Italian participants, the presence of Simest, Finest S.p.A., Federunacoma (Federation of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers), the Agrifood & Bioeconomy FVG Foundation, the Order of Engineers and Technical-Economic Consultants (OICE), 3TI Progetti, and the Agriserbia-Ferrero Hazelnut Company was significant.
As a confirmation of the Montenegrin interest in the development of economic relations with Italy, three Ministers of the Government of Podgorica (Tourism, Energy, Ecology), as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Transport, with the Secretary of State, and the Investment Agency of Montenegro took part. Government representatives presented infrastructure projects and investment plans in the country’s key sectors: renewable energy, waste management and wastewater treatment, sustainable tourism, transport infrastructure and agriculture.
The Ambassador of Italy to Montenegro, Andreina Marsella, said she was delighted with the organisation of the event, recalling how it had been inspired by the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani to Montenegro on 10 September 2024, on the occasion of which an initial fact-finding mission to Podgorica of Italian companies potentially interested in the Montenegrin market had been planned.
The director of Ice in Belgrade-Podgorica, Antonio Ventresca, highlighted the strategic value of this event as a first operational step towards building stable and lasting economic relations.
The day ended with a session of B2B and B2G meetings between Italian and Montenegrin companies and local authorities, with the aim of establishing direct contacts on future investment opportunities and laying the foundations for sustainable partnerships.
