Known as “the greatest promise that never came true,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was the brightest talent in FORMULA 1 in the 1990s until a career-ending accident. Thirty years later, Sonny is supporting himself as a mercenary driver when he is approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), the owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team on the verge of bankruptcy. Ruben convinces Sonny to return to FORMULA 1 as a last resort to save the team and establish himself as the world’s best driver. Sonny will race alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), a young talent looking to make his own mark on the team. But as the engines roar, the past catches up with Sonny and he realises that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your toughest competition – and the road to redemption is not one you can travel alone.
