Greece: amb. Cuculi visits the Ship Giovanni delle Bande Nere

(ANSA) – ATENE, 11 SET – Italy’s Ambassador to Athens, Paolo Cuculi, paid a visit to the Nave Giovanni delle Bande Nere, a modern offshore patrol vessel of the Italian Navy moored in the port of Piraeus.
The ship, launched in 2022, is engaged in the patrol activities of the European Union’s EUNAVFOR MED IRINI operation. The mission is aimed at ensuring compliance with U.N. Security Council resolutions banning arms trafficking to and from Libya.
Welcomed by the Operation’s Force Commander, Rear Admiral Alessandro Di Biasi, and the ship’s Commander, Frigate Captain Antonio Bufis, Ambassador Cuculi reviewed the crew and personnel on board, a statement read. During the visit, he emphasized the important contribution made by the Navy in combating arms and human trafficking and oil smuggling, playing a leading role in the security of the Mediterranean.
