Houston Bush Airport Restores Curbside Drop-Offs With New Terminal E Ticketing Lobby

Houston Bush Airport opens a new Terminal E ticketing lobby, adding TSA lanes, restoring curbside drop-offs, and advancing its $1.46 billion expansion.

Houston Bush Airport Unveils New Terminal E Ticketing Lobby as Part of $1.46 Billion Overhaul

Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) has officially opened a brand-new ticketing lobby in Terminal E, marking a key milestone in its $1.46 billion modernization project. The upgraded facility features 10 advanced TSA screening lanes and restores curbside passenger drop-offs at Terminal E—a first since 2021, when the previous ticketing lobby was shuttered.

With this launch, United Airlines passengers departing from Terminal E no longer need to check in at Terminal C, streamlining the check-in process for thousands of travelers.

This ticketing lobby is just the first phase of Terminal E’s transformation in 2025. Later this year, the terminal will evolve into a spacious International Central Processor (ICP), which will consolidate check-in facilities for international airlines currently operating from Terminal D. At that stage, seven additional TSA screening lanes will be introduced, alongside a state-of-the-art baggage-handling system and an expanded concession area.

Houston Bush’s ongoing expansion also saw the opening of six new widebody gates in Terminal D last fall, complementing the terminal’s 2023 renovation. Meanwhile, United Airlines is spearheading a separate $1.9 billion expansion of Terminal B in collaboration with the Houston Airport System, further reinforcing IAH’s position as a major global aviation hub.
