According to the Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN), the number of cancer cases in India is expected to rise by 57.5 per cent by 2040, reaching 2.08 million cases. India currently ranks third globally in the highest number of cancer cases, suggesting that current tobacco control efforts have not been effective.
