Despite covering 70 crore citizens under Ayushman Bharat and reducing out-of-pocket spending, India’s universal healthcare dream remains elusive. At ETHealthworld’s 5th Healthcare Leaders Summit, experts warned that gaps in equity, outpatient coverage, financing, and drug access could derail the country’s 2047 ambitions. The way forward, they stressed, lies in strengthening primary care, enforcing accountability, and aligning private and public sector priorities.
