Italian ambassador to Canada received by House speaker

(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, 16 LUG – The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, was received by Hon. Francis Scarpaleggia, Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons. The conversation, marked by great cordiality, offered an opportunity for an in-depth exchange on the rich bilateral and parliamentary relations between Italy and Canada in the political, economic, scientific and cultural fields. Particular attention was paid to parliamentary diplomacy and joint action and cooperation in all major multilateral forums, including NATO and G7, the defense of common values of freedom and democracy, and support for Ukraine. The ambassador also remarked on the excellent results achieved so far by the Canadian government in the G7 arena, with the full support of the Italian government. During the meeting, Speaker Scarpaleggia and Ambassador Cattaneo finally dwelt on the important role of the rich, numerous and dynamic Italian-Canadian community, of which Speaker Scarpaleggia himself is a proud descendant.
