Italian Film Week kicks off in Skopje

(ANSA) – SKOPJE, 09 GIU – The 25th edition of the “Italian Film Week – ITALIAN SCREENS” kicked off today in North Macedonia. Organised by the Italian Embassy in Skopje, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Belgrade and the National Film Archive of the Republic of North Macedonia, the event is realised thanks to ITALIAN SCREENS, a project supporting the internationalisation of the Italian audiovisual sector, with the aim of promoting the best of Italian film production abroad, together with support tools such as tax credit and funds earmarked for distribution and co-productions.
The initiative, conceived by Roberto Stabile-Responsible for Internationalisation DGCA/Cinecittà, is the result of the collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture (DGCA-MiC) and Cinecittà.
This year’s edition features six of the most representative works on the contemporary Italian film scene. The films, all released between 2024 and early 2025, have participated in prestigious international festivals, gaining great acclaim from critics and audiences, as well as important awards. The theme that ideally unites the films in the programme is that of the journey: a journey that can be physical – towards the homeland or far from it – but also visual, interior, existential, temporal and emotional. The films scheduled until 14 June are Parthenope (2024) by Paolo Sorrentino, L’Abbaglio (2025) by Roberto Andò, Follemente (2025) by Paolo Genovese, Napoli-New York (2024) by Gabriele Salvatores, La Vita da Grandi (2025) by Greta Scarano, Diamanti (2024) by Ferzan Ozpetek.
