(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 17 – The average price of gas for domestic consumers in Italy rose by 15.1% in 2024 to 13.1 euro cents per kWh, public energy authority Arera said in a report on Tuesday.
It said Italy’s gas bills were 5.3% higher than the eurozone average.
The report said Italy was among the countries to register the largest drops in gross electricity prices for domestic customers, which were down 38.64 to 35.7 euro cents per kWh.
As a result, the differential with respect the EU average dropped to 15% from 24.7% in 2023.
Additional charges and the taxes, however, neutralised the possible savings.
Indeed, the final net prices paid by households in Italy were 14% higher than those of the eurozone average – 25.92 cents per kWh and 22.73 cents respectively. (ANSA).
