(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 14 – Italian government sources on Wednesday confirmed reports that Italy and Denmark are working on a joint letter to the European Court of Human Rights on the Strasbourg judges’ handling of immigration cases.
“We confirm that we are considering the possibility of jointly signing a letter on the possibility of starting an open dialogue on the interpretation of the European Convention on Human Rights, taking the challenges of modern irregular immigration more into account,” the sources told ANSA.
The same sources said the text of the letter has not yet been finalized while adding that “in our opinion, the issue deserves to be discussed at the European level”. (ANSA).
