(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 12 – Italy on Tuesday signed, together with the European Union and a group of member states, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other partners, an urgent appeal to the Israeli authorities to grant full access to Gaza for all aid and to ensure that humanitarian workers and NGOs can safely continue their work distributing food to the civilian population in the Strip, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
“The humanitarian situation requires urgent action, strengthening our humanitarian commitment to Gaza,” the Farnesina statement added.
“In recent weeks, in various contacts with the Israeli government, Italy had urged openness to aid and committed to redoubling its efforts to support the most vulnerable segments of the population in the Strip.” (ANSA).
