The day witnessed a heartwarming cross-cultural moment when Kareena Kapoor Khan shared how legendary Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg, once recognised her and approached her at a restaurant to personally praise her for her work in Rajkumar Hirani’s 2009 masterpiece, 3 Idiots.

During a panel session titled ‘Cinema: The Soft Power’, moderated by Karan Johar and featuring Telugu heartthrob, Vijay Deverakonda, Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a memorable encounter with Steven Spielberg, which happened during an international trip shortly after the premiere of 3 Idiots. While dining at a restaurant, the legendary filmmaker, seated nearby, walked up to her and asked if she was the ‘girl from that very famous Indian film about the three students’. Bebo shared:
“Steven (Spielberg) was eating at the same restaurant. This was many years ago—3 Idiots had just been released. He actually came up to me and said, ‘You’re the girl from that very famous Indian film about the three students.’ I said, ‘Yes, that’s me.’ And he said, ‘My God, I love that movie!’ So, you know, I didn’t have to act in an English film for him to have seen 3 Idiots. That, I think, was a special moment for us.”
