(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 5 – Fiorentina forward Moise Kean on Thursday pulled out of Italy’s squad for their first two 2026 World Cup qualifiers after staining a muscle in his right thigh in training on Wednesday in a fresh blow to coach Luciano Spalletti.
The coach’s options were already limited because of several absences, including that of veteran Inter defender Franceso Acerbi, who snubbed his call-up to the Azzurri squad.
On Wednesday he called up Daniele Rugani to replace AC Milan centre back Matteo Gabbia, who suffered a muscle injury in training in Tuesday.
Italy start their qualification campaign in Norway on Friday and then face Moldova on Monday in Reggio Emilia. (ANSA).
