Kyndryl’s $2.25 billion investment in India marks the start of a new era of digital innovation and talent development, positioning the country at the forefront of technological advancement. By modernizing critical IT infrastructure, Kyndryl is enabling organizations across India to harness cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and hybrid IT modernization. This commitment not only accelerates India’s digital transformation but also lays the foundation for a future-ready workforce. The establishment of an AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru, alongside plans for talent skilling programs, directly addresses the nation’s need for advanced digital skills, ensuring India’s workforce is equipped to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world. Through this strategic investment, Kyndryl is helping to drive both technological progress and sustainable economic growth in India.

“Kyndryl is a proud, trusted partner to our customers and an employer of choice to tens of thousands of Kyndryls across India,” said Martin Schroeter, Chairman and CEO, Kyndryl. “We’re committed to further developing our people, expanding our technical capabilities and strengthening community partnerships to support growth, innovation and opportunity.”

“India warmly welcomes global partners to explore the vast opportunities in our nation and collaborate with our talented youth to innovate and excel,” said Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. “Together, we all can build solutions that not only benefit India but also contribute to global progress.”

The company already supports many of India’s prominent organizations across diverse sectors, including banking, healthcare, technology, and transportation. Clients such as Bangalore International Airport, Canara Bank, Dr LalPathLabs, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and Honda Motorcycles rely on Kyndryl’s expertise to manage mission-critical IT infrastructure. Kyndryl’s strategic focus areas include cybersecurity, hybrid IT modernization, and artificial intelligence (AI), which are crucial to India’s digital transformation and will play a key role in the country’s long-term economic development.

“India has established itself as a global technology powerhouse, driven by a thriving startup ecosystem, world-class digital infrastructure and skilled workforce,” said Lingraju Sawkar, President, Kyndryl India. “With this commitment, Kyndryl is focused on further supporting our customers in meeting their diverse transformation needs and scaling their operations for the next era of growth.”

Kyndryl AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru

A significant part of Kyndryl’s India expansion is the establishment of an AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru, designed to accelerate the company’s AI-driven consulting services. This lab will bring together data scientists, AI consultants, and technology professionals who will work closely with businesses to implement AI-powered solutions, cloud technologies, and platform engineering. This facility will also serve as a training hub for developing the next generation of AI professionals with specialized skills in data, cloud, and application development.

The Bengaluru AI Innovation Lab is part of Kyndryl’s broader strategy to support India’s AI goals, as outlined by the INDIAai Mission. The lab will collaborate with public and private sector organizations to implement AI-driven solutions across governance, public infrastructure, and cyber resilience. One of Kyndryl’s key offerings, the Kyndryl Bridge platform, which leverages AI to optimize business operations at scale, will be prominently featured during the AI Impact Summit, hosted by the Government of India in 2026.

Strengthening Government Partnerships

Kyndryl is also deepening its collaboration with the Government of India to drive AI-led transformations across key sectors. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to enhance the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) initiative, which aims to simplify and improve the regulatory environment for businesses. Kyndryl’s AI platform, Kyndryl Bridge, will play a central role in this initiative, utilizing AI to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and support India’s regulatory reform efforts.

Kyndryl’s work with the Indian government will also include developing solutions for critical infrastructure, digital public services, and governance, helping to create a more resilient and competitive economy. The company’s focus on AI-driven innovation aligns with India’s goal of becoming a global leader in AI and technology development.

Talent Development and Workforce Upskilling

Kyndryl is committed to addressing the increasing demand for advanced digital skills in India. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the need for skilled professionals in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data analytics is growing exponentially. To meet this demand, Kyndryl will invest in the upskilling of its workforce, ensuring that its employees are equipped to lead in the rapidly changing digital environment.

In addition to training its internal teams, Kyndryl is focused on fostering a new generation of digital talent in India. The company plans to open offices in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where it will tap into the wealth of untapped talent. Kyndryl will also collaborate with universities, research institutions, and graduate schools to create early-career programs that will help young professionals gain hands-on experience in emerging technologies. This will not only contribute to Kyndryl’s own growth but will also play a part in building a sustainable talent pipeline for India’s digital future.

Recent research by Kyndryl highlights India’s readiness for AI adoption, with 37% of business leaders in the country expressing confidence that their teams are prepared for the AI revolution, well above the global average of 29%. This reflects a growing awareness in India about the need to invest in upskilling and training to keep pace with AI developments.

Social Impact and Skilling Initiatives

Through its Kyndryl Foundation, the company is launching a comprehensive skilling program aimed at training 200,000 individuals across India in digital technologies. The Kyndryl Skilling program will focus on developing expertise in high-demand areas such as cloud operations, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps. These courses will be offered through the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) and will be accessible to both students and professionals.

In addition to this, Kyndryl has partnered with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) to launch a state-of-the-art skilling facility in Mumbai. This initiative focuses on providing cybersecurity training for underserved youth, empowering them with the skills needed to pursue careers in this critical field. These social impact initiatives aim to bridge the skills gap in India’s digital workforce and provide opportunities for individuals to thrive in the growing tech sector.

Kyndryl’s investments in talent development, AI innovation, and social impact initiatives underscore the company’s commitment to India’s digital transformation. By nurturing talent, driving AI adoption, and fostering collaboration with the government and industry leaders, Kyndryl is positioning itself as a key partner in India’s journey to become a global tech powerhouse.
