Thorns and Honey EP ushers us into the world of burgeoning Kenyan singer Adoyo Afrique. It’s a 27-minute showcase of the artist’s versatility — you can hear her switch effortlessly from Afro-fusion to rhumba, her smooth vocals brought to the fore.
Adoyo did dazzle fans when she launched the EP in Nairobi a couple of weeks ago, with live performances accompanying the launch.
Having listened to Thorns and Honey a few times already, I’ll say “Oimore” and “Romna” (with Winyo) are two of the standouts. This mini-collection is, indeed, worth giving a listen (stream below via Spotify).
