Mastercard has teamed up with TD Bank’s Priceless Planet Coalition to restore trees in British Columbia’s Thompson Watershed, an area heavily impacted by wildfires. From October 24, 2024, to January 15, 2025, TD Bank will donate to the restoration project for every eligible MBNA credit cardholder who switches to e-statements. The goal is to plant up to 30,000 trees in the region.
This initiative encourages sustainable banking practices while supporting environmental recovery. TD Bank’s partnership with Mastercard underscores their shared commitment to combatting climate change and restoring vital ecosystems.
“We are so proud to partner with Mastercard on this initiative and it feels like a natural fit as TD believes sustainability is important’, says Jennifer Bishop, Vice President and Executive Journey Product Owner, TD Bank. “As an organization, we aim to enrich and support the communities in which we live and work. We believe Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition can help connect customers across the country to such an important program.”
“We’re grateful to have the support of TD, MBNA and its customers in helping to support our work with the Priceless Planet Coalition initiative in Canada,” said Diane Miquelon, Senior Vice President, Financial Institutions, Mastercard, Canada. “Our goal is to create solutions that allow people to be inspired by the positive impact they can have, and now we can help bring that home to our own Canadian communities.”
The Mastercard-led Priceless Planet Coalition brings together over 150 corporate partners to support 19+ tree restoration projects across six continents. In collaboration with climate science and forest restoration experts, including Conservation International and the World Resources Institute, the initiative is focused on reforesting regions with the greatest need.
More than just planting trees, the coalition aims to establish a sustainable restoration model, with a goal of restoring 100 million trees globally. To support this mission in Canada, the coalition partners with Tree Canada, the local tree-planting organization.
As part of Mastercard’s commitment to tackling climate change, the Priceless Planet Coalition leverages the company’s scale, technology, and partnerships to drive environmental action. This initiative unites businesses, individuals, and consumers, providing a shared path toward long-term, sustainable growth.
