According to sources, a large quantity of medical waste was dumped in an abandoned spot on the roadside of the Madurai-Kanyakumari national highway near Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli on Wednesday. Expired tablets and medicine in bottles were dumped in large numbers. In a few nearby spots, medical waste was also burnt.
