Mika Singh is a popular singer in the Hindi film industry. He has lent his voice to popular songs like Aaj Ki Raat, Subah Hone Na De, Dhinka Chika, Pushpa Pushpa, and more. Known for his impactful voice, the singer often makes headlines for his candid yet controversial comments. Once again, in a recent interview, the singer reopened one of the most controversial chapters of his life when he decided to visit Pakistan and perform at a private event in Karachi after the Uri attack in 2016. Mika’s decision was not appreciated in India amid its tension with Pakistan, and he faced a temporary ban by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). Later, it was uplifted when the singer submitted a formal apology. Despite not talking much about it in recent years, Mika again revisited the controversy and shared his views on it.
Mika Singh points out the double standards in the film industry
Mika Singh recently sat down for a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast, and shared his side of the story when he faced a temporary ban after he visited Pakistan. While talking about the ill effects of fame, the singer shared how people deliberately try to create controversy around a famous person. Referring to the alleged collaboration between Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir and Diljit, Mika shared that no one pointed fingers on them. At the same time, he mentioned singer, Honey Singh is also working with Pakistani singer, Atif Aslam, which no one is criticising. However, the moment he does something, he becomes a target of controversy. In his words:
“Ab Diljit ke movie mein koi Pakistani heroine arhi hai, pata nahi arhi hai ya nahi arhi hai, usme koi controversy nahi. Ispe bhi 2 kalakar hai. Kahin log great singer hai aur koi popular hota hai toh faraq padhta hai ki kispe maza ayega usko baat karke. Uske baad bhi Honey Singh Atif Aslam ke sath koi gaana kar raha hai. Agar main kuch karunga toh unko lagta hai ki haan yaar yahan se chingari uthegi.”
