Named as one of ‘the men who changed the face of the Indian cinema’, Mohanlal has acted in over 400 films in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
In 2009, Mohanlal became the first Indian actor to be awarded the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army. It was in 1978, when Mohanlal made his acting debut in the Malayalam film, Thiranottam at the age of 18 but the film was delayed. However, he made his screen debut with the film, Manjil Virinja Pookkal, where he played an antagonist.
