Music festival in Tsinandali, Georgia, opened

(ANSA) – ROMA, 05 SET – The prestigious Tsinandali Festival, which is held annually at the historic estate of the prince and famous Georgian poet Aleksandre Chavchavadze and hosts the extraordinary musical events with the participation of musicians from all over the world, opened yesterday. This year’s festival, now in its seventh year and supported – as has become a tradition – by the Embassy of Italy in Georgia, offers fans of classical music fabulous concerts with Italian participation.
“Cultural diplomacy is one of the fundamental elements of the foreign policy of Italy, a country that has always represented the world superpower in culture. Italy’s strength is not only its priceless cultural and artistic heritage, but also its leading figures-true ambassadors of our culture, which is the universal language for conveying the message of peace, promoting dialogue, and building bridges between peoples,” with these words Italy’s Ambassador to Georgia Massimiliano D’Antuono addressed the numerous local and international media representatives at the press conference held before the opening of the Festival.
The star of the opening concert was Italian Maestro Gianandrea Noseda, well-known and beloved in Georgia, one of the most important conductors of his generation, Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington and the Zurich Opernhaus, Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic, as well as Music Director of the Tsinandali Festival itself. The Maestro conducted the Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra, which – together with the talented pianist Behzod Abduraimov – offered the audience the music of Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich.
As part of the Festival, there will be two more encounters with the Italian Maestro conducting the Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra: on September 7, the audience will be able to enjoy the wonderful music of Brahms and Beethoven, performed by two brilliant musicians, Marc Bouchkov (violin) and Mischa Maisky (cello), while on September 10, the other pieces by Brahms and Beethoven will be played by the famous pianist Nikolai Lugansky.
