(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 25 – This week’s NATO summit has been important for the commitments undertaken, Premier Giorgia Meloni said after it ended Wednesday referring to the pledge to raise defence spending to 5% of GDP as demanded by United States President Donald Trump.
Meloni stressed that “we won’t take even a euro away from the priorities of the Italians” in order to meet the pledge.
“It was an important summit for the commitments undertaken, significant and sustainable commitments”, she said in The Hague, explaining that the ,measures approved are “necessary expenses to strengthen our defence and our security”.
She stressed: “We will not take away even one euro from the priorities of the government and Italian citizens.” (ANSA).
