Nendaz Backcountry Invitational 2025 (SUI) First ever triple backflip in freeride competition
The roughly 200m vertical freeride face has been augmented with all manner of man-made elements, from flat cliff takeoffs to classic booters to a rail in the middle of the face. Each ski freerider/freeskier had three runs and the highest total score determined the winner, with each run counting towards the score.
19-year-old Jake Müller managed to land a triple backflip – the first ever triple backflip in a backcountry freeride competition. And in the women competition, we saw the first ever double backflip by a woman in a freeride competition by Astrid Cheylus and then later in the competition by Mila De Le Rue.
The 20-year-old German/Canadian Tiemo Rolshoven came out on top with 1,340 points, followed by 19-year-old Jake Müller (AUT/GBR) in second place and Austria’s Sebastian Mall completing the podium.
Mila De Le Rue from France won the women’s event, second place went to Astrid Cheylus – also from France – and third place went to Eva Battolla from Switzerland.
