Netflix may be the base-level streaming service that most subscribers have in addition to other bundles, but there has been a precipitous drop in viewership among new seasons of returning shows. Declining viewership isn’t out of the ordinary for a second season, but the extent to which shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Four Seasons, Running Point, and Beefhave declined suggests that the issue isn’t contained to a specific genre or release window. Despite the fact that Netflix produces more original content than any other streamer, it has only been ramping up its cancellations, resulting in less confidence from viewers.
