(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 16 – President Sergio Mattarella stressed the need for social justice and fair wages for peace as he took part in the ceremony for the opening of the academic year of the International Training Centre of the UN International Labour Organization (ITCILO) in Turin on Friday.
“Social justice is essential for peace, stability, progress and shared prosperity among peoples,” the head of State said.
“There can be no lasting peace without fair wages, without social protection and without respect for trade union freedoms.
“The Italian Constitution clearly outlines a model of society in which labour is both the foundation of the republic, an instrument of personal fulfilment and leverage, of social justice”. (ANSA).
