Oh, it’s definitely not the Brady Bunch around these parts, Imani!
We have less than a month before One Chicago Wednesdays return, and the trailer has us locked in and eagerly awaiting what’s to come.
It also has a girl feeling wary about the recent bout of shakeups, presumably for the sake of the plot.

Right from the start, they don’t give us nearly enough to work with when it comes to Chicago Med. But when it comes to combined efforts for the franchise, Med often gets the short end of the stick.
In this case, we have a delightful moment of badassery from Lennox, in which she completely owns an operating room. Given that the character has truly blossomed and come into her own, endearing herself to viewers during Chicago Med Season 10, she’s a sight for sore eyes.
But we’re short on most of the other faces during the teaser for Med, and, of course, they’re fixated on the biggest cliffhanger: Hannah’s pregnancy.
We’re not going to whack Ripley this time, so rejoice, but we do catch a moment in which Ripley must have learned the news that Hannah is pregnant and wonders why she didn’t tell him about it.
And that’s a good question. Is this a possible indicator of the paternity of the kid?

We know some fans are going to be waiting with bated breath to see if this kid belongs to Ripley or Archer. Ripley is the most obvious and boring choice.
But Archer? That would bring much drama. And why introduce this type of plot in the first place if they aren’t going to maximize the drama, right?
There isn’t enough of the Med portion to elicit a real reaction from it, so we’ll just have to wait a bit longer until they provide us with something more substantial to dig into.
However, we certainly got some juicy bits for both Chicago Fire and PD, including an introduction to the newest additions to both series.
But as far as first impressions go? It’s where the trepidation comes into play.

It was always going to be a tough sell to bring new people into the fold after axing a character like Carver, whose story arc felt so incomplete. We know that Ritter will get a sendoff.
Pascal gives the gang a pep talk and hypes them up by saying that they’re the best, and we know that they are.
Which means it’s going to be a headache when newbie Sal Vazquez is the epitome of a hot mess on the job. His first impression? It’s not the strongest.
He’s on the scene as if he’s never been on a call, and he apparently has no idea how to drive. I can’t even enjoy the effects of a rolling car completely engulfed in flames because the new kid is veering off and about to cause an accident of his own.
We can already tell he’s going to have Severide ready to throw hands for the mere fact that he may be more of a liability, and Stella is pregnant now.

She doesn’t need the stress or someone who will potentially endanger her life, and I can already smell the conflict from here.
Sal Vazquez is no Sam Carver, and he’ll have a steep hill to climb.
Meanwhile, we also catch our first glimpse of Eva Imani.
And with one snarky line, it’s evident that they weren’t exaggerating about the energy she may give off.
Out of context, her line about how they all get along well with a real Brady Bunch vibe could be amusing for many reasons. One of which is that no one could ever mistake the Intelligence unit for having perfect family sitcom vibes.

On a good day, they’re at least more like the Addams Family, and even that’s pushing it.
However, my wariness comes into play when we know that Imani isn’t necessarily a team player type of person, and her entire purpose may be to cause conflict with the team.
It’s a complete switch-up from Kiana Cook’s addition, which had her blending in seamlessly and causing little to no conflict.
However, the teaser does give us an idea of why and how Kiana ends up leaving Intelligence.
For starters, Intelligence still doesn’t exist anymore. After Reid’s death in Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 22, it seems that they’re still dealing with the fallout from that.

Everyone is scattered all around because of the unit disbandment, and we definitely get a look at what that’s like for them.
Voight is obviously slumming it while wearing his sergeant’s white shirt and taking to the streets. He’s a man of action, so when he mentions that there are consequences to his team being benched, he truly means it.
He takes it personally when he and his team aren’t in the streets solving some of the most heinous crimes, and every second counts when his squad — his family — is away from him, and they aren’t saving the city in the way he likes.
They bussed our guy Atwater down to a beat cop again, and that won’t do!
We also see our girl Burgess whipping a wheel with that rock in her hand, but we don’t have much indication of what she’s doing outside of the glimpses we catch of her donning her weapon when it appears that the merry band reunites off the books to solve a case.

Ruzek seems to be taking things in stride, at least while he’s hanging out at a bar, but we also don’t know if it’s an undercover thing, and he certainly seems to be in action later on in the clip.
And we also catch a brief glimpse of Torres when everyone, including the newbie, is stationed out in the field somewhere, presumably for an off-the-books type of investigation Chicago PD teases high stakes, a new face, and a lot of action. And Chicago Fire is definitely bringing the same energy.
Med is a bit understated. However, big things are on the horizon, and across the board, One Chicago seems to be taking some significant swings in its approach to shake things up.
But will it work? Maybe it will for some. My feelings are mixed regarding others. But we’ll have a better idea come premiere night, October 1st.
