Over 160 Pigs Pulled From Neglect — and Every Single One Needs Help

163 neglected pigs of all ages were rescued from deplorable conditions on North Carolina farm. It is being called the largest hoarding case in the state’s history.

Many rescues are unable to take on this many animals, but one stretched themselves to the limit to save these innocent pigs.

Ziggy’s Refuge Farm Sanctuary rescued them from living in inches of waste without proper food or care and is determined to help them heal. The medical bills will be large and they need our support to cover their emergency care and ongoing expenses.

Rescuers drove hours up the mountain to save the pigs and then hours more to get them the medical care they need. All the while promising each one that tomorrow would be a better day and telling them they are finally safe.

These pigs have never experienced love, a pasture to run in, fresh watermelon, or kindness, but that is about to change.

First, they need to spayed or neutered, treated for parasite infestations, and recover from starvation and old injuries. The rescue shared, “If they have joint issues, we’re treating them. If they need surgery, they get it. If they require specialized care, we make it happen. We are doing everything we can to ensure the rest of their lives are safe, healthy, and full of the love they’ve always deserved.”

Pigs are highly intelligent and social animals that thrive in groups and form lifelong friendships. The rescue is determined to keep bonded pigs together when looking for new homes at other sanctuaries.

These pigs were barely surviving and deserve a second chance. Their rescuers and caretakers are beyond exhausted but keep fighting for them. Donate today to help the pigs recover and find loving homes.
