Pope worried about political violence after Kirk murder

(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 16 – Pope Leo XIV expressed his concern about the rise in political violence in the wake of last week’s murder of Conservative activist Charlie Kirk in the United States during a meeting on Saturday with the new US Ambassador to the Holy See, Brian Francis Burch, as he presented his credential letters, the Vatican said on Tuesday.

Ambassador, the Pope confirmed that he is praying for Charlie Kirk, his wife, and his children; that he expressed concern about political violence; and that he spoke of the need to refrain from rhetoric and instrumentalization that lead to polarization rather than dialogue,” said Holy See Press Office Director Matteo Bruni.
