Republic Day at the Italian Embassy in Berlin

(ANSA) – BERLINO, 03 GIU – The customary Republic Day event was held today at the Italian Embassy in Berlin. Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci welcomed over a thousand guests, including representatives of Italian and German institutions.
In his speech, Ambassador Bucci said: ‘Italian Republic Day is an opportunity not only to reflect on our past, but also to face together what awaits us, in the knowledge that we have a common responsibility especially on our continent.
This year, the customary appointment was enriched with an exhibition area organised around six thematic areas: industry 4.0, energy, transport, defence, aerospace, and services. Numerous Italian and, in particular, German business excellences were present. The motto of the party was ‘Italy that innovates’.
The ambassador also recalled that 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the labour agreement between Italy and Germany (20 December 1955), which allowed Italian workers to enter the Federal Republic initially considered as Gastarbeiter, guest workers.
“This is an anniversary that reminds us of the commitment, dignity, sacrifice and valuable contribution of thousands of Italians who built a bridge between our two societies and made an important contribution to the German miracle,” the ambassador recalled.
The ceremony was opened with the solemn performance of the Italian and German national anthems, followed by the European anthem, interpreted by the voice of the talented singer Malika Ayane, accompanied by cellist Martina Biondi and violinist Cecila Ferron.
