(ANSA) – NEW DELHI, 04 GIU – The Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata celebrated Republic Day in the prestigious Taj Bengal Hotel, in the presence of Santanu Basu, of the Culture and Information Department of the West Bengal government. The approximately 300 guests were able to enjoy a preview of the 30 images of the ANSA photographic exhibition, selected for the occasion, which traces the history of the ties between Italy and India through 80 years of shots taken by the agency’s photographers and which, in the coming months, will become a travelling exhibition and will touch various other cities in eastern India.
Riccardo dalla Costa, the Consul General of Italy in Kolkata, after recalling the founding values that unite the two democracies, emphasised that, “in addition to promoting the friendship between Italy and India, we also want to celebrate the long-standing ties between Calcutta and Italy. We are engaged in various projects to revive their memory,’ he said. The state government representative complimented the Consulate for its activities and called for a stronger relationship between Italy and eastern India.
