San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has been honored with a prestigious 2025 CIO 100 Award for its groundbreaking achievement in developing an in-house mobile application aimed at enhancing the enforcement of ground transportation rules and regulations. The app, dubbed “SFOCite,” was launched in February 2024 and has since revolutionized the airport’s approach to managing citations for ground transportation. By digitizing the entire citation process, SFOCite has significantly boosted efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with transportation protocols.
Key accomplishments of the SFOCite app include seamless data entry, automated billing processes, and real-time trend analysis capabilities. These advancements have not only streamlined operations but also provided valuable insights into transportation trends, ensuring better decision-making. Furthermore, the introduction of this app resulted in a 30% increase in field investigator time, allowing for a more effective and efficient enforcement of ground transportation rules across the airport.
