SAS is revolutionizing in-flight connectivity with the introduction of free, high-speed Wi-Fi for all passengers. Powered by SpaceX’s Starlink technology, this cutting-edge service leverages the world’s largest low Earth orbit satellite constellation to deliver seamless, high-speed, and low-latency internet access. Starting in late 2025, SAS will gradually roll out this game-changing feature across its entire fleet, offering EuroBonus members complimentary access to this premium service.

Unmatched global coverage
Starlink’s advanced satellite network ensures reliable internet access worldwide, even in challenging regions and over vast expanses like the Atlantic Ocean, North Sea, and the North Pole. Unlike traditional satellite systems, this innovative technology eliminates disruptions, ensuring consistent connectivity even in the most remote or hard-to-reach locations.

“By introducing this new technology, we’re connecting our passengers to the world like never before,” says Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS. “We’re putting an end to frustrating interruptions and ushering in a new era of connectivity. Whether flying over the Atlantic or the North Sea, our passengers can now count on a connection that is as stable and seamless as it is fast. This is about giving our customers the best and ensuring SAS remains synonymous with excellence.”

SAS passengers will now experience uninterrupted Wi-Fi access throughout their entire journey, starting as soon as they board the aircraft and lasting until they step off. This marks a major upgrade from the existing systems, which only provide connectivity after takeoff and shut down during the landing phase.

“We’re excited to provide reliable, high-speed internet across the entire SAS fleet and help level-up the in-flight experiences for passengers and crew from gate to gate,” said Jason Fritch SpaceX Vice President of Starlink Enterprise Sales. “We’re especially proud that Starlink can offer connectivity for passengers that’s as good if not better than at their homes while flying across the Atlantic, North Sea and North Pole, which historically had been challenging for in-flight internet.”

“This is a game-changer for our travelers,” Verhagen adds. “Gate-to-gate connectivity isn’t just an improvement — it’s a breakthrough in convenience and reliability. It gives our customers the freedom to work seamlessly, stay connected, and enjoy uninterrupted entertainment throughout their flight.”

Innovative, Efficient, and Lightweight Design
The Starlink aeroterminals are engineered with a streamlined design to minimize aerodynamic drag, resulting in lower fuel consumption. This aligns perfectly with SAS’s commitment to advancing sustainable air travel and reducing its environmental footprint.

Effortless Connectivity Across Multiple Devices
The system is designed to handle multiple devices at once, enabling passengers to work, browse, or stream seamlessly on smartphones, tablets, and laptops, all without any loss of performance.

SAS plans to roll out complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi towards the end of 2025, offering a superior in-flight experience to all travelers.
