He passed away after a long battle with liver cirrhosis. The actress who prefers to keep her personal life away from the spotlight was criticised by netizens who alleged that Shubhangi left him after getting fame with her show. For those unaware, the duo tied the knot in 2003 and were recently granted divorce in February 2025. Amid all the allegations, Shubhangi had been silent for a while. But, in a recent interview, the actress opened up about Piyush’s demise and shared her side of the story.
Shubhangi Atre reveals she is being wrongly criticised by fans
Shubhangi Atre recently sat down for an interview with the Times Of India, and addressed the demise of her ex-husband, Piyush Poore on April 18, 2025. Shubhangi who parted ways with Piyush due to irreconcilable differences mentioned that she spoke to him two days before his demise when he was hospitalised and prayed for his recovery. The actress shared that she feels numb over the incident and would soon visit his family in Indore. Shubhangi revealed that their daughter is studying in the US and would join her on the trip after the exams. Sharing her feelings, Shubhangi said:
“I spoke to him on April 16 and prayed for his recovery. I’m emotional and numb right now.I want to remember Piyush for all the good things. I’ll be going to Indore soon to be with his family. Our daughter, Ashi, who is studying in the US, will finish her final exams, after which she’ll come here, and then we’ll head there together.”
