SITA, a global pioneer in air transport technology, has officially integrated IPS Intelligent Passenger Solutions into its SITA Airports suite. This strategic move solidifies SITA’s position as a leader in airport technology and digital transformation.

Now rebranded as “IPS, a SITA company,” the enhanced division offers a robust suite of intelligent passenger solutions, including self-service bag drops, kiosks, touchless scanners, and printers, as well as related advanced technologies. IPS, a SITA company, now complements SITA’s airport operations, passenger management, and baggage handling systems, establishing a new benchmark in Aviation Technology Industry (ATI) solutions for airports and passengers worldwide.

SITA completed the necessary regulatory and legal steps to acquire IPS in July, facilitating an accelerated push towards global aviation industry digitalization. The integration will enhance processes across check-in, baggage handling, security, and airport operations, providing travelers with shorter wait times, streamlined experiences, and a new wave of intuitive, personalized digital services.

Beyond “IPS, a SITA company,” SITA’s Airports portfolio continues to drive innovation in the Aviation Transport Industry. Its cutting-edge offerings, such as biometric solutions—serving 85% of international air passengers worldwide—Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), Common Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks, Airport Management Systems (AMS), and Airside Optimizer tools, all support efficient, sustainable airport operations. These advancements enable airports to maximize terminal capacities, uphold top security standards, and deliver a seamless travel experience. Enhanced by biometrics, facial recognition, and self-service options, SITA transforms airports into digitalized, tailored travel environments for the modern passenger.

Nathalie Altwegg, SVP of Airports at SITA, said: “Airports worldwide need to adopt technologies that can remove unnecessary bottlenecks at pinch points like check-in, security and embarkation. The addition of IPS a SITA company combines the best of our market-leading SITA and IPS products and expertise to deliver seamless travel experiences. This unrivaled gold standard portfolio will enable our airport customers to deliver the solutions that will ultimately ensure passengers worldwide enjoy an easier and frictionless travel experience, devoid of frustrating and lengthy queues. By combining CUTE and CUSS kiosks with biometric and facial recognition technology, and our IPS portfolio, SITA is at the forefront of developments that will ultimately reshape the future of airport travel.”

“Together, we are setting a new standard in automated passenger handling for the aviation industry,” adds Dr. Georg Oschmann, CEO of IPS a SITA company, adding: “By connecting our expertise, we are positioned to deliver even greater value to airlines and airports worldwide. Our integration enhances our ability to streamline the passenger journey and drive innovation that meets the evolving needs of the industry.”

Over 2,300 Self-Bag Drop kiosks are already operational across more than 120 airports worldwide, processing approximately 150,000 bag drops every day. This extensive reach has positioned IPS, now a part of SITA, as the clear leader in providing comprehensive airport solutions, serving over 13 billion passengers annually. IPS delivers top-tier, secure solutions across all common-use passenger touchpoints—from check-in to Self-Bag Drop, baggage claim, and boarding—alongside integrated biometric ID systems, fully managed cloud-based services, and advanced smart payment technology.

IPS, a SITA company, combines a global footprint with localized expertise, ensuring tailored support for each customer. Their team responds swiftly and professionally, adapting to meet specific client needs across diverse regions.
