Soccer: Milan’s woes continue with dramatic Lazio defeat

(ANSA) – ROME, MAR 3 – AC Milan’s dire form continued in dramatic fashion on Sunday when a stoppage time penalty by Pedro condemned them to a 2-1 defeat to Lazio at San Siro.
The visitors from Rome made the running in the first half and took the lead through captain Mattia Zaccagni, although they should have been more than one goal up at half time for the number of chances created.
Milan suffered another setback in the middle of the second half when Strahinja Pavlovic was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Gustav Isaksen.
Despite being a man down they managed to pull level with a header by Samuel Chukwueze in the closing stages.
But keeper Mike Maignan gave away a penalty for a foul on Isaksen at the death and Pedro was cool from the spot.
Milan are ninth with 41 points from 27 games, 17 points behind leaders Inter and nine adrift of fourth-placed Lazio.
A top-four finish is good for qualification for next season’s Champions League.
AS Roma, meanwhile, continued their good form, coming from behind to beat Como 2-1 at home.
Claudio Ranieri’s side are eighth with 43 points.
Juventus can regain fourth place if they beat Hellas Verona at home later on Monday. (ANSA).
