(ANSA) – MADRID, 12 GIU – Ambassador Buccino Grimaldi today received Army General Andrea Rispoli, head of the Office for the Protection of Defence Culture and Memory, reporting directly to Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, the embassy informed in a note.
The general illustrated the project to restore the Zaragoza Military Memorial, built in 1942 and currently not open to visitors, which houses the remains of 2,900 Italians who fell fighting for the opposing sides during the Spanish Civil War. The objective, to be achieved in collaboration with the Consulate General in Barcelona, is to open the monument to the public once again, providing it with the necessary security requirements and integrating it with the setting up of a museum space with the most modern standards of usability, the press release states.
