Spotify secures a landmark partnership with Afro Nation Portugal 2026, bringing one of the world’s biggest African music festivals to the streamer.

Last week, Spotify notched a major expansion to its Afrobeats footprint with an exclusive streaming partnership with Afro Beats Portugal 2026. Taking place from July 3-5, one of the world’s biggest African music festivals streamed directly on Spotify’s platform for the first time.

The move further solidifies Spotify’s move into live music events, as well as its presence in the Afrobeats community. A first-of-its-kind partnership between the two entities, the deal also reflects the growing presence of Afrobeats as one of the world’s most rapidly expanding genres.

As part of the agreement, Spotify launched a dedicated Afro Nation destination on its platform, where listeners could access the festival’s official playlist, discover participating artists, and watch selected performances afterward. Spotify expects the move to deepen fan engagement while extending the lifespan of the performances after the festival’s end.

“Afro Nation is more than a festival; it is a global expression of African music, fan culture, and creative influence,” said Rifumo Mdaka, Content Marketing Manager for Spotify in Sub-Saharan Africa. “Our partnership is about helping that moment travel further through our first collaboration with Afro Nation of this nature. By bringing the festival to Spotify, we’re giving fans a place to connect with artists, performances, and stories that define the festival, long after the final set.”

The partnership serves as part of Spotify’s overarching investment in African music by supporting artist discovery and playlist promotion, as well as live performance recordings.

“Our partnership with Spotify is a significant moment for us because it reflects the shared role we both play in discovery, helping artists reach ne audiences and giving fans deeper ways to engage with the music they love,” said Clémence Blum, Director of Global Partnerships, The Malachite Group / Afro Nation. “This collaboration marks an exciting evolution of the Afro Nation experience, extending the energy of the festival beyond the live event.”

Selected performance content and behind-the-scenes clips from Afro Nation Portugal will continue to be available on Spotify as part of the partnership.
