STARLUX Airlines, the Taipei-based premium carrier, has strengthened its partnership with Viasat Inc., a global leader in satellite communications, to enhance in-flight connectivity (IFC) across its fleet. This milestone deployment ensures passengers experience seamless, high-speed Wi-Fi during their journeys, further solidifying STARLUX’s position as a luxury airline in the Asia-Pacific region.

Expanding High-Speed Connectivity Fleet-Wide

The phased integration of Viasat’s cutting-edge IFC solution will cover STARLUX’s full lineup of 48 aircraft. This includes Airbus A330-900s, A321neos, A350-900s, and A350-1000s, all of which will be fitted with Viasat’s multi-orbit-ready GM-40 terminal, compatible with the ViaSat-3 satellite network. The installation process combines both factory-fitted systems for new deliveries and streamlined retrofits for existing aircraft.

A Commitment to Premium Passenger Experience

Since its inception in 2018, STARLUX has remained committed to redefining air travel with its passenger-first approach. As one of the first carriers in Asia-Pacific to adopt Viasat’s advanced IFC platform, STARLUX ensures travelers enjoy uninterrupted connectivity at cruising altitude. The airline’s decision to invest in Viasat’s latest technology highlights its dedication to delivering an unmatched in-flight experience, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

With Viasat’s high-capacity Ka-band satellite coverage over the Asia-Pacific region—soon to be bolstered by a next-generation ViaSat-3 satellite—STARLUX passengers will be able to stream entertainment, browse the web, stay connected via messaging apps, and work efficiently while onboard.

“Viasat is proud to partner with STARLUX, an airline that shares our passion for innovation and customer satisfaction,” said Don Buchman, Senior Vice President and GM, Commercial Aviation at Viasat. “Through this expanded relationship, we look forward to not only providing high quality connectivity, but a comprehensive solution with the capability and flexibility to empower STARLUX to create an advanced, refined connected experience that suits its ambitions and goals.”

The World’s Youngest Fleet Meets Next-Level Connectivity

STARLUX prides itself on operating one of the world’s youngest fleets, with an average aircraft age of just 2.06 years. Combining contemporary luxury with authentic Taiwanese hospitality, the airline integrates premium services that cater to discerning travelers. The introduction of Viasat’s high-speed Wi-Fi further enhances the airline’s reputation for delivering an exceptional travel experience.

Launching Across Key Destinations

The rollout of Viasat-enabled aircraft will initially focus on major travel hubs, including Taipei , Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Manila, Macau, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sendai, and Hong Kong.

As STARLUX continues to expand its global reach, its collaboration with Viasat ensures passengers stay seamlessly connected, transforming the in-flight experience into an extension of their digital lives.
