Tajani blasts ‘shameful resurgence of anti-Semitism’

(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 28 – Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Wednesday that he is worried about the rise in anti-Semitism in Italy after Israel launched its war on Hamas in Gaza following the October 7 attacks.
“I would like to share here my strong concern about the resurgences of anti-Semitism that we are witnessing,” Tajani said he reported to the Lower House on the situation in Gaza.
“Disgraceful episodes such as the placard hung in a shop in Milan cannot be written off as just a news item,” he added, referring to a haberdashery that put up a sign in Hebrew saying ‘Israelis not welcome’.
“Even (Life) Senator (and Holocaust Survivor) Liliana Segre has been subjected to incredible, aberrant anti-Semitic insults and all my solidarity goes to her.
“The Israeli government’s actions cannot be blamed on Jews.
“Never again! No one must ever again be afraid because they are Jewish”.
